Why does God allow…? Why does God not stop…?
You’ve probably asked questions about why God allows this or causes that. I know I have. Our broken nature often causes us to begin questioning God’s character when sickness, tragedy, failure or death disrupts our lives. We are called to believe God is supposed to be good and loving so why doesn’t He prevent and reverse all the stuff we think we shouldn’t have to experience?
As Doug Dommer continues his farewell series, Passages, he’ll discuss the importance of anchoring our mind on the Truth Jesus teaches in John 10:10. It’s a great verse for us to study because Jesus is so unequivocal in His teaching about His purpose. God is not the bad guy, Jesus did not come to give us more rules to follow or accuse us of not doing enough stuff to earn God’s favor.
From the dawn of creation, God has never been anything but gracious and loving and seeking the best for those who love Him. Jesus’s call to pursue real life in Him takes our eyes off our misfortunes and direct our energies into the life to come where pain and disappointment will be no more.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – John 10:10
