Care MINISTRIES

Services

9 AM In-Person Worship & 10:30 AM In-Person or Online Worship

Care ministries at Salem exist to provide love and support to people who are struggling with life’s challenges. At one time or another we all need the help of others to see our way through a difficult time. Whether your struggle is physical, emotional, relational or financial we are here for you and want to help in whatever way we can.

Cancer Care

We provide spiritual and emotional support to people who are experiencing cancer and their caregivers. Cancer Care meets on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7pm in Salem’s Fellowship Hall. Please join us for an informal pinch of time to catch up, have a cup of coffee, and share prayer requests with our Salem Cancer Care Ministry team members, fellow cancer patients and caregivers.

Our Cancer Care Support Fellowship team members “adopt”  people (we refer to them as Care Receivers or CR’s) who have come forward to let us know they or someone they love is struggling with cancer. The team member then develops a more personal relationship  with those individuals, checking in on them at least once a month, more often when struggling.  All of our team members have been touched by cancer in one way or another, either by cancer themselves or being the care giver of a loved one with cancer.

GriefShare

If you’ve lost someone you love, this can be a confusing time. You may feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This Christ-centered program can help you move toward rebuilding your life and finding hope again. A new session will begin January 25th, 2024 and they meet weekly on Thursday from 6:30-8:30pm.

“GOING TO GRIEFSHARE FEELS LIKE HAVING WARM ARMS WRAPPED AROUND YOU WHEN YOU’RE SHIVERING.”

GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life.

  • You’ll probably feel a little nervous about going to GriefShare the first time.
  • You’ll discover there are people who understand your hurts, emotions, and painful experiences!
  • You’ll learn helpful, practical information that will help you recover from the pain of grief and loss.
  • You’ll have the chance to talk about your experiences.
  • You’ll have a workbook for personal study and to write down things you’ve learned.
  • You’ll begin to gain closure in your loss.
  • You’ll become part of a “family.”
  • You’ll discover hope for the future.
